   Various extra curricular activities are taken up for the all-round development of the students. This helps them in improving their skills and makes them prepared to meet the challenges they have to face in the competitive world. They acquire this skill and ability to be successful in their post education life through these extra curricular activities. Various teachers act as the co coordinators and there is a constant teacher interaction in the conduct of various activities.
Scholarships have been instituted to help the needy and meritorious students. We are always thankful to those who have instituted these scholarships. Our Bishops who have been elevated from our midst, Priests, Teachers, Students and public have extended a helping hand to promote education
.

a) Co-curricular and Extracurricular Activities
  • ASSOCIATIONS
    Association of various departments comprising staff and students work actively to involve students in co-curricular activities. one of the staff member of the department is nominated as president and other office bearers are selected from among the students.

  • COLLEGE UNION
    Every year the students elect college Union Chairman, General Secretary, Arts Club Secretary, Students Representatives and Class Representatives. The activities of the college union will be governed by the rules of the University of Kerala.

  • CAREER GUIDANCE CELL
    The career Guidance Cell gives students information about the various courses offered by the college under the Universities of Kerala and the neighboring states and also offers advice regarding their job prospectus. It also holds meeting with a view to disseminating details about the various academic avenues open before their wards.

  • CENTRE FOR ADULT, CONTINUING EDUCATION AND EXTENSION (CACEE)
    A special cell for CACEE is working under the University of Kerala. The CACEE has sanctioned one certificate courses for our College. Regular students as well as outsiders can join the course as part time and they will be awarded certificate on successful completion of the course. The certificate will be issued by the University of Kerala.

  • ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CLUB
    The objective of the club is to develop entrepreneurial culture among students and equip them with skills , techniques and confidence to take up new business activities.

  • FORMER STUDENT’S ASSOCIATION
    The association of old students of St. Stephen's College is known as 'Stephani' and the members as 'Stephanians'. This association helps the former student of the college to keep in touch with the St. Stephen's College family. Old students are enrolled as members and are informed of the various activities, progress and achievements of the college.

  • GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL
    The cell is meant for redressing the grievances of both teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. It functions as a committee according to the norms and procedures laid down in the University and the Government rules.

  • LEGAL FORUM
    The legal forum is intended to impart to the students an awareness regarding the fundamental rights and duties of the citizen in the society.

  • MUSIC CLUB
    The music club is a forum of music lovers of the college. The club aims at organizing choir groups for singing songs and National Anthem during public functions of the college.

  • M.G.O.C.S.M (Mar Gregoriose Orthodox Christian Movement of India)
    Students who belong to Orthodox community are the members of this movement which is affiliated to the MGOCSM of India. The movement aims at an integrated spiritual development of students. MGOCSM conducts prayer meeting on all Fridays at the college chapel. The other activities include leadership training, seminars, music programmes, pilgrimage etc.

  • NATURE CLUB
    The club strives to make its members aware of the environmental problems around. With this aim seminars, classes, debates, quiz competitions etc. are conducted. The club also convenes study tours to create awareness for the preservation of nature and natural resources.

  • NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)
    The NCC aims at inculcating in students a spirit of discipline and a willingness to serve the country. Students can get themselves to the NCC in the beginning of each academic year. The cadets are given regular training at the NCC camps. The 14 (K)Bn., Pathanamthitta is responsible for the training of cadets in our institution. Capt. Isaac John (Dept. of English) is acting as the NCC officer.

  • NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)
    The National Service Scheme is an All India Scheme initiated by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs. It is established to create strong social awareness among students. It helps in the personality development of the members through study and work camps, social service activities and other useful and productive works.

  • PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)
    The PTA of the college is strong and active providing all possible support for the academic and physical development of the college. It renders all possible help to the management and teachers for the smooth running of the college. Guadians take keen interest in the functioning and funding of the Association It has been holding regular meetings with student leaders to thrash out campus problems in order to ensure better discipline in the college.

  • STUDENTS GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING CELL
    This organization aims -at building up a better student community by maintaining discipline, order and studiousness among students. The class teacher functions as a counsellor also. Besides, specially trained teachers provide personal counselling. Experts from the field of counselling are often invited. Classes are conducted for students, teachers and parents.

  • SCIENCE FORUM
    The Science Forum aims at cultivating and promoting awareness among students about the recent developments and new trends in Science and Technology through seminars, lectures, workshops surveys, projects etc.

  • SARGAVEDI
    Sargavedi is a cultural organization which is intended to inspire the students in activities of art, culture and literature. The main activities of sargavedi include conducting seminars, debates, elocution competitions, stage programmes etc. Every year Sargavedi conducts "Sargothsavam" which provides the students with a stage to perform their talents .

  • TOURISM CLUB
    The object of the club is to develop awareness of tourism among students and cultivate the spirit of national integration.

  • THE WOMEN’S CELL
    This is a forum exclusively meant for lady students of the college. The aim of this organization is to create awareness of social problems faced by women in general. Seminar, discussions, debates, study classes, cultural programmes and other activities are planned and conducted by the cell. They also implement programmes for the welfare of the women students of the college.

  • TUTORIALS
    The tutorial system is working effectively in the College. Students are devided into small groups of 15 to 20 students and entrusted to a teacher. The teacher is responsible for keeping a close watch on the curricular and extracurricular activities of the students. Necessary guidance and counseling is also given to the students.
  • YOGA CLUB
    Yoga club functions in the College .The aim of this club is to create a sound mind in a sound body. Regular training is being given to the students in the field of yoga.
b) Scholarships

1. Dr.George Memorial Scholarship - Instituted by his son Dr.A.G.John. It is awarded to the best Orthodox student who complete the Degree course.

2. Mar Thoma Dionysius memorial Scholarship.
    It is awarded to the student who scores the highest mark in English in the second year degree Degree examination

3. Kanianthara Kudumbam Prize in Honour of H.G.Job Mar Philoxenos –
      instituted  by his family. It is awarded annually to the best All Rounder of the College.

4. Mar Thoma Dionysius Endowment in honor of Rev.Fr.Oommen.P.Abraham –
      instituted by Puthenparambil family.It is awarded equally among the out going III DC students of Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Physics Chemistry,and Economics securing highest marks.

5. K.V.George Scholarship – instituted by Rev.K.V.George.
       It is awarded to five students who secure the highest mark in the final year examinations of DC,IIDC,and III DC.

6. Prof.John C. Kurian Memorial Scholarship – Instituted by Dept. of Physics.
       It is awarded to the best outgoing student who secures highest mark in the  III DC final examination.

7. N.Manojkumar Memorial Scholarship – instituted by III DC Economics 1985  batch. It is awarded to the student who secures the highest mark in the final year Economics examination.

8. John Philip Memorial Endowment - instituted byMr.V.J.Philip.
       It is awarded to the best Orthodox student in PG classes and best outgoing PG student.

9. State Scholarship
       This is a merit –cum-means scholarship. Students with more than 60% marks for the qualifying examinations can apply.

10. P.T.A. Scholarship
       The scholarship is awarded to the meritorious students of the College.

11. Prof.Kurian Thomas Retirement Endowment-instituted by Prof.Kurian Thomas.It is awarded to the best BSc. and MSc. students of the Dept. of Zoology.

12. Prof.Benjamin Tharakan Endowment- instituted by Prof.Benjamin Tharakan.
       It is awarded to the students who secures highest marks in I MSc. And II MSc.Chemistry.

13. H.G.Thomas Mar Thimotheos endowment instituted by His Grace. It is awarded to the meritorious      students of the College.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

ADMISSION

1. All candidates seeking admission must acquaint themselves with the rules and regulations of the     college and will be bound to observe them, if admitted.
2. Application for admission should be made in the prescribed form, which can be obtained from the     college office on payment of registration fee.
3. At the time of admission candidates must produce transfer and conduct certificates in original     from the school or college, they last attended, along with the qualifying certificate and mark list.
4. Candidate from the other Universities should produce Migration certificate along with an Eligibility     certificate from the University of Kerala.
5. Orthodox students should produce a community certificate from their Parish priest.
6. Those seeking fee concession must produce income and community certificates from the Village     officer.
7. Candidates selected for admission will be required to appear along with their guardians for an     interview before the Principal. The selection is provisional and is subjected to confirmation only     after the interview and scrutiny of certificates.
8. Candidates will have to pay the first instalment of tuition fees, special fees, caution deposit and     such other fees prescribed by the University before they are allowed to attend the classes.
9. Any candidate found to have obtained admission by false representation shall be removed from     the roll.
10. Any student applying for Transfer certificate will not be given the certificate unless he/she pays     all fees, other dues, or such portion there of as per the rules in force.
11. A notice for 24 hours is necessary for the issue of a Transfer certificate ,conduct certificate or     any other certificate.
12. If any document is desired to be sent by post from the College office a self-addressed envelop     with sufficient postage stamps should accompany the application.
13. Every student of the College will be issued an identity card on enrolment. The student is bound     to produce the card on demand by any member of the staff.
14. Qualifying certificate submitted by the students at the time of admission will be returned only on     the completion of the course of study. Certificates and marks sheet should be claimed at least     with in three months after the completion of the course of study.

ATTENDANCE


1. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each period. Latecomers shall not enter the     classroom with out the permission of the lecturer concerned.
2. Impersonation at roll call will be considered a serious offence.
3. Absence in one period will be treated as absence for half day.
4. Absence from the examination conducted by the college will be seriously dealt with.
5. The promotion and admission to the University examination will not be granted unless (a)the     student has got at least 75% attendance for the course.(b)the student has completed the     course of instruction to the satisfaction of the authorities of the college.(c)his/her progress in     studies and conduct has been satisfactory.

EXAMINATIONS & TEST PAPERS


1. There will be two terminal examinations in an academic year.
2. The Marks of the examination are taken in to account for internal assessment.
3. A progress report will be sent to the guardian after each of the termly examinations.
